Privacy policy
This policy applies to the Android app Software Scope Planner (version 1.0.0) and the website softwarescopeplanner.sbs. In short: the app stores everything on your device and sends nothing.
1. Who is responsible and how to contact us
For privacy questions and for requests about access or deletion, contact us at [email protected]. This is the only address for support and privacy.
2. What the app processes
The app only processes what you enter yourself: projects (name, client or team, goal, tags, estimate unit, an optional rate in pounds and a contingency), modules, user stories (title, role, what is wanted and why, acceptance criteria, priority, value, effort, estimates, status, tags and notes), the scope history with optional reasons, baselines, your own templates and settings.
3. Stored only on your device
All data is kept in the app's private storage on your device. There is no account, no server and no cloud synchronisation. The app has no internet permission and therefore cannot send data. We, the provider, receive none of your data and can neither see nor restore it.
4. Export, sharing and backup
Data leaves the device only when you do it yourself: you can send the specification of a project as a PDF, Markdown or CSV file, a comparison of two scope versions as text, and a backup of all data as a JSON file through the Android share menu to an app of your choice, or save the file in a folder you choose. What happens to these files afterwards is governed by the terms of that app or storage location. When importing, the app reads a file you pick locally.
5. Information about other people
Project texts can contain names, for example of a client organisation or of people mentioned in notes or reasons for changes. They also stay only on your device. Please record only what you need for the scope and share exports only with people who need them.
6. Permissions
The app requests no permissions: no location, camera, microphone, contacts, access to photos or files, and no notifications. It opens and saves files only through the Android pickers.
7. No adverts, no analytics, no tracking
The app contains no adverts, no analytics, crash reporting or tracking tools, uses no advertising ID and has no in-app purchases.
8. Retention and deletion
Your data stays stored until you delete it: single items in the app, everything under “More › Backup and data › Delete all data”, or by uninstalling the app. Exported files stay wherever you saved or sent them.
9. This website
This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party services; fonts and images are loaded from our own server. The server may briefly keep technically necessary access logs (for example IP address, time and page requested) to run the site securely.
10. Your rights
Under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 — and the EU GDPR where it applies — you have the right to access, rectify and erase your personal data and to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). Because we receive no data from the app, you can exercise these rights directly in the app. For anything else, write to [email protected].
11. Children
The app is a professional planning tool for adults and is not directed at children.
12. Changes
If the way the app handles data changes, we will update this policy and publish the new version on this page.
